Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
TritonPlan ("we," "us") is an independent planning tool that helps UC San Diego students plan classes and track degree progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
2. Information we collect
- Google account basics. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We use Google Sign-In (OAuth) — we never see your Google password, and we never see or handle your UCSD password.
- Information you enter. Course plans, schedules, completed courses, and grades that you choose to enter or import are stored in your private account so you can return to them.
- Basic usage analytics. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate page-view analytics that do not build advertising profiles or track you across other sites.
- Standard technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data (e.g., IP address, browser type) for security and reliability.
- Sponsored link clicks. The dashboard does not currently carry a sponsored card. During an earlier sponsored placement, clicking that card counted the click against your account so we could tell the sponsor how many students clicked and how many times in total; only those two totals were ever shared — the sponsor never received your name, email, or any other information about you, and nothing else you click has ever been counted. If a sponsored card returns, it will work the same way and this section will say so.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not collect UCSD credentials or log in to any UCSD system on your behalf.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not run third-party ad networks, ad trackers, or retargeting pixels. If we ever carry a sponsored card again, it will be clearly labelled and placed directly by us; it will load no third-party code and will not be able to see you.
- We do not access your official UCSD records — any academic information in the tool is entered by you.
4. How we use your information
To provide the service: authenticate you, save your plans and preferences, and keep the service secure and working. That's it.
5. Where your data is stored
Authentication and your saved data are handled by Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), hosted in the United States. Your saved data is stored under your account and is accessible only to you when signed in, subject to our access controls.
6. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that operate the app (e.g., Google Firebase for authentication, database, and hosting) and only as needed to run the service, or where required by law. The one exception has been the sponsored-click totals described in Section 2, and those are counts only — never a list of who clicked.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and deletion. You can delete the data you've saved from within the app, or request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.
- Revoke access. You can revoke TritonPlan's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account settings.
8. Children
TritonPlan is intended for university students and is not directed to children under 13.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
